“We don’t rescue women. We hold them while they rebuild”
Brittany Johnson
Founder & President
WOVEN breaks cycles of crisis by creating lasting stability for women emerging from violence and neglect.
The Gap
- Most systems respond to immediate crises, not the long, middle phase of rebuilding.
- Women are often labeled “non-compliant” when the issues are capacity, stability, and the sequencing of support.
- There is a structural handoff gap between crisis response and long-term stability.
Our Approach
- We work with women who are no longer in immediate danger but not yet stable.
- We emphasize shared accountability, participation, and long-term capacity building.
- Support is relational, structured, and paced for sustainability.
Why Now
- Shelters are overcapacity.
- Long-term instability drives repeat crises.
- Investment in post-crisis stabilization reduces long-term system cost and harm.
Our Current Phase
- Early-stage infrastructure development.
- The Thread: a low-barrier community support program.
- Building strategic partnerships.
Seeking Partnership With
- State agencies focused on housing and human services.
- Domestic violence response networks.
- Workforce and economic mobility partners.
